Despite being completely dead, and looking forward to a lazy Saturday...mine turned out to be quite eventful!
Being studious for once, Brianna and I decided to go to the National Gallery and do our Humanities journal entries--we looked at Rembrandt and Vermeer mostly. Then just as we were getting up to leave we spotted a Vampire! Yup. Not an attractive Twilight kind of vampire but Count Dracula in the flesh. He was dead serious about it too. He stalked around and had "body guards". You can't take pictures in the Gallery, but we followed him around and Brianna tried to surreptitiously snap one (yes I like alliteration) on her iphone. However stealthy snappage of pictures is difficult when ornery museum lady and body guards are around so it was a failure.
And then we lost him! It was actually kind of creepy how fast he disappeared--very vampire-like (perhaps he was legit). It was unfortunate, but when we exited into Trafalgar Square we found him again and Brianna got this video!
She was holding her camera sideways, so please tilt your head to the left to enhance your viewing pleasure...
We then decided to ride the bus to Kensington High street area to get lunch--didn't make it that far. We saw Burberry and had to go in and take a look (and by we I mean I). It was out of my price-range (sigh). Anyway had a delicious lunch at Patisserie Valerie. I got hot chocolate because it's chilly here--no lovely Autumn sunshine--and a roasted veggie and goat cheese panini. We hit up the V&A gift shop afterwards just to see and were actually surprised with the great stuff they have there. Its really unique and I plan on going back to purchase gifts.
That night we went to FLEET STREET (as in "the demon barber of..." aka Sweeny Todd)!
We went to a pub called "Ye old Chesire Cheese"--one of, if not, the oldest pub in London, but it was way crowded and we had a bigger group so we split.
(The pub is actually through the alleyway under the Oliver Bonas where you see the women on her phone coming out)
My group ended up going to Covent Garden--random--(we had tried another pub closer but it had some kind of private thing going on) and found a really good outdoor cafe. The had heat lamps and blankets so it wasn't too cold. That area is really fun-it's full of shops and restaurants and people. I want to go back during the day when everything is open.
Oh and about Waldo, I almost forgot! While on fleet street we ran into lots of people dressed like Where's Waldo. It looked like they were on some kind of scavenger hunt thing that they were doing in pairs--I thought it looked fun!
Xoxo!
