Day 27: So we figured out what it is with us and getting to church. We can only get there worry-free every other week. Today wasn’t one of those weeks.
We checked TFL, everything was all systems go and we arrived at Brixton station with time to spare. Then the train doesn’t come. Other people were there waiting for the same train and we heard them wondering aloud so we figured we didn’t miss it and it was just running late. Wrong.
That train wasn’t even running that day. And the kind lady working there decided to wait till the whole group of people had been waiting 15 minutes to tell us “you know the trains aren’t running today?” Thank-you Ms. Helpful. Would have been nice to know.
So we went to Victoria station to hopefully get another train. We had a half hour to spare and the train ride was only ten minutes. However, when asking a worker for train advice, he said “Oh that’s going to be a problem” and let us know that it was the whole line that was down. He was more helpful than Brixton lady though and told us to take X train and X bus to get to Penge East. We hadn’t allotted bus time which takes a lot longer so we were late to church, but the way the man told us took us within one block of the church. So a little shout-out to the train man whoever you are—Thank-you!
Next week being General Conference, we’ll just go to the Hyde Park building. We hope it’s a free-be week and won’t count as our week of making it to church. Because it would be really nice to get to church the following Sunday!
Xoxo!
