…Because I toured Buckingham!

Day 31: Andrea, Brianna, and I purchased tickets to visit the State rooms, the Queen’s Gallery, and the Royal Mews.  It was about 30 pounds, so we hoped it would be worth it…*it definitely was!  The exhibit at the gallery was about Victoria and Albert and was really interesting.  Lots of paintings of their family, their furniature, her jewels, songs Alfred wrote for his wife, paintings Victoria did of her children, and an audio guide explaining it all.  The state rooms were beautiful too—nothing I haven’t seen before though.  Afterwards the tour leads you out into the gardens.  It was mostly green lawns, a small lake, and trees just starting to show fall colors.  There was a quiet little path leading through the park that we got to walk along.  I enjoyed it.  And I decided I would very much like to be invited to the Queen’s garden party.
Some of the first fall leaves!

My chocoholic lunch
(don't you love how they put crowns in the coco?)

I was telling this to the kid who worked at the little outdoor café they have set up for the tourists and he told me he got to cater at one of them.  So he’s met the queen in real-life.  I asked what she was like; he said, “quite  small really.”  (He was a lurp so that’s not hard.)  Then we chatted about what one would have to do to get invited.  We decided since I’m not involved in military my best bet would be to save a member of the royal family…however as he pointed out that would require me stalking them for several months in order to be there when the opportunity presented itself…too bad—the parties sounded lovely!

*Bonus of the day:  They stamp your tickets and you get free-reentry any time within one year of the day you visited!  I plan on watching Young Victoria, then going back to visit the Gallery again.  Oh and to see the mews too... we didn’t have time for it on this visit.

Xoxo!
