These posts are a little delayed due to the fact that I was holidaying up North. I guess it was possible to write them up before leaving, but that whole week prior to the North trip was a bit crazy (1 test, 1 essay, 7 field assignments--say what??!). And with that uninteresting introduction, please welcome....
Days 39&40: Remember how I was waiting to visit some place and not be thrilled by it? Well Friday's day trip was it. I apologize to you Keats lovers out there, but his house was boring. I suppose if I had read his poetry or had watched Bright Star the night before, and had it not been 200 degrees, I might have enjoyed it....maybe...

Following my not so favorite tour, the day in Hampstead was redeemed by eating at Giraffe (you know the smoothie place with the plastic toys?) And this time we got real food. It was delicious. I got a veggie and goat cheese quesadilla. We could then go see Parliament Hill and Kenwood...but I decided to skip those places and head back early...oops!
On to Saturday. First stop of the day was Portobello Road. I decided I wanted to go to someplace fun before getting to my homework, besides museums don't open until 10 am anyway! I was able to find a scarf, and also a pair of sneakers to replace my falling-apart Toms.
Brianna, Natalie, Jenna, Bethany and I then went to the Imperial War museum. This is actually one of my favorite museums so far! I was there for nearly 3 hours. It is really a cool museum and has tons of war artifacts. My favorite exhibit was one they had on the Holocaust. It was quite sobering seeing what they put together, but also really interesting.
Just some airplanes and stuff...
I kind of lost my group in the war museum, so afterwards I went on to the Wallace collection by myself. It is a 18th century town house full of paintings by Watteau, Boucher, Reynolds and others in the Rococo style. It also has furniture of the same style. It was pretty, but frothy isn't really my thing, nor are fat baby cupids, etc. etc.
That night I went to Selfridges to see the newly arrived shoe galleries. There have been signs and posters everywhere for the last few weeks, so I thought I needed to check it out. The windows outside the store were zcmi-esque and all shoe themed! And inside an entire floor was devoted to shoes. It was the most shoes I have ever seen in my life all in one place. 4,000 shoes on display by 150+ designers. The displays themselves were really cool, an architect designed the whole thing and brought in all sorts of cool materials to build displays out of.
I had pictures, but I don't know where they are...
Xoxo!
